Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihsaan officially launched the “MI ID Checker” on 10 November 2025, according to Maldives Immigration.
The new system uses facial recognition technology to support the identification of undocumented foreign workers in the Maldives.
Maldives Immigration described the initiative as part of efforts to develop a sustainable response to illegal migration.
